Metric Glossary
Plain-language definitions for the metrics used across the AI Visibility tabs.
The same handful of metrics show up across Rankings, Sources, Site Pages, and the Overview dashboard. They fall into two groups: metrics that describe a brand's presence in answers, and metrics that describe a source or page's influence on those answers.
Brand metrics
- Visibility — the percentage of AI answers (for the selected prompts) in which the brand appears.
- Position — the brand's average rank within answers when it does appear. Lower is better.
- SOV (Share of Voice) — the brand's share of all brand mentions across the tracked answer set.
- Sentiment — a 0–100 score for how positively the brand is described in answers. A
0usually means too little data, not negative sentiment.
Source & page metrics
- Retrieved — how often a source was pulled into an answer's context.
- Citation Rate — how often a retrieved source was actually cited in the answer.
- Total indexed by AI — the volume of a page's content AI engines have indexed.
info
Sentiment of 0 almost always means there wasn't enough data to score the brand — not that the brand was described negatively. Treat low-sample sentiment scores with caution.
